Member of UK Parliament visits Tradstocks Westwood
Tradstocks were delighted to welcome Gregor Poynton, UK Member of Parliament for Livingston, to Tradstocks Westwood for a site visit and a discussion about sustainably sourced local stone.
Gregor Poynton with Andrew Armstrong, Breagha Freedman and Mark Freedman.
Working in Partnership
The visit began with productive conversations about sustainability, the importance of using locally sourced stone for public realm projects, and how the natural stone industry and the public and private sector can all benefit by supporting low carbon manufacturing processes.
Communities also benefit, by the creation of more skilled jobs as well as the development of new public spaces that people can enjoy, feel safe in, and that help contribute to an overall sense of well-being.
Working in partnership is essential for sustainable supply chains.
THE SITE VISIT
During the factory site visit we showed Gregor our new production line investments, the various stone cutting saws, our transport and delivery yard and finally our stone mason facilities.
Gregor even tried his hand to master the skill of stone masonry - not an easy task, but a great effort!

Tradstocks Scottish Whinstone ready to be delivered to public realm projects across Scotland.
“I’m backing local jobs, sustainable materials, and supporting Scotland’s industrial heritage.
That’s why it was great to visit Tradstocks in West Calder with the Stone Federation, to see the role this local, West Lothian natural stone businesses are playing in high-profile projects across Scotland, from Inverness Castle to George Street in Edinburgh.
We had a really constructive conversation about how policy can better support low-carbon materials, skilled jobs, and sustainable supply chains and how we can make it easier for public projects to prioritise high-quality, locally sourced stone.

“Thank you so much to Gregor Poynton for taking the time to visit our site and to discuss how we are all trying to change the Scottish landscape for the better, and the attitude to using local stone.
