Hammer Dressed Walling

Stone Finishes

Polished

Manually rubbed to produce a smooth finish

Pitched/Bull/Rock Face

The rough face is left protruding while the bed, top and sides are tooled or sawn flat.

Hammer Dressed

The rough face is manually dressed with a pointed chisel to produce a flat surface leaving a random pattern of chisel marks.

Tooled

Stugged, Broached or Droved to create a traditional fine textured finish.

Square & Snecked Walling

Ashlar

Facing stone built in tight jointed even courses sawn to size generally with smooth/polished face

 

Quoins

Cornerstones, right-angled approx twice length to width available in various finishes.

 

Rybats/Jambs

Used round windows and doors in a variety of styles and finishes.
